North Park apartments are a disappointment in every respect. The building gets a star from me for (1) its staff - the building manager and the maintenance crew are great! and (2) the location. Otherwise, this building is to be avoided. Here is why: 1. Safety and security: I was burgled at night (while living on the 14th floor!). Not only is this a scary incident (thank goodness nobody was hurt!) but it also revealed that the renter's insurance company the building recommends using is a scam as it did not cover the value of the stolen possessions. Garage entrance and many building doors are often left open, posing major security concerns. 2. Cleanliness and hygiene: this is a pet-friendly building, and while the pets are great, their owners are not always responsible people. As a resident, you have to embrace animal hair in laundry facilities and urine and poop which are sometimes found in elevators and common areas. 3. Plumbing and maintenance issues: the building has outdated plumbing, so toilet water coming out of both the toilet and the bathtub were among the unpleasant aspects of North Park life (image attached). 4. Parking: my vehicle was toed from my own building's parking garage several times. The concierge just watches your vehicle being removed without any attempts for a courtesy notice to the resident. Also, guests will have to pay for their parking (although this has not been implemented yet). 5. Residents are nickel and dimed for everything. You pay for receiving packages at the building (there is no opting out). Your guests will have to pay for parking. You have to fight for your deposit money. 6. There is no community feeling at all - residents are mostly transient and the atmosphere is tepid at best. 7. Amenities are poor: a park was built nearby but never opened to the public. The pool is cold most of the summer and very small, and the rooftop closes at 8 pm (just as it gets nice enough to enjoy it). There is no party room, business center or lounge. In sum, look elsewhere. The downsides outweigh the upsides, in my opinion.
