Let me first off say I actually do enjoy living here. If the rent was cheaper I would stay. Pros: -close to beach -close to shops/freeway -close to dog park(if you have a pet) Cons: -price and hidden fees (parking/utilities/pet rent) -dog shit everywhere -parking (TERRIBLE) -Gym equipment doesn't work Details: I moved in 8/16 so I've only been here a few months. I signed my lease for 1595 which is a bit high, but pretty standard for San Diego apartments. I currently pay 1750 for total utilities, 2 parking spots and pet rent. Which is way too much for 1bed 1bath... They charge you $10/month for parking perno matter what for a flat rate. And $20 on top of the $10 for a covered spot. Which is crazy, especially cause if you come home any later than 6pm there is no parking except by the leasing office. I have complained to management about several vehicles which have not moved for several months. They informed me their policy is 3/5 days of not moving and they will tow it, but no follow through. They have flat tires, spider webs, covered in dirt. But management will not tow them. Also, the first come first serve spots are tiny and often the painted lines are barely visible. The residents don't know how to park between the lines, and there is no enforcement for double parking. Pet rent is such a ridiculous concept. That's what the deposit is for.... but whatever. The landscaping around the buildings are typically nice. I actually enjoy walking my dog around the complex which is gated and about a mile from my unit all the way around. However, the residents here do not know how to pick up their dog shit, so don't walk in the grass. Sometimes there is shit on the sidewalks. :/ The garbage cans are often overflowing. The residents for some reason leave furniture, old Tvs, extremely large items right next to it expecting management to trash it for them. But management does a good job of moving it within a week or two. One thing I've noticed is several homeless people digging through the trash early in the morning. I know there is one that lives behind one of the storage units, and I'm pretty sure the maintenance knows about it cause I've seen them watch this guy go behind there several times. Also, huge raccoons and parrots in the summer, which sound like devil birds!! I haven't had a problem with any residents. All normal families or young kids. I never hear my neighbors. I live next to the playground and you can hear kids playing but that's kids. Does not bother me. During summer time you get a free firework show which is nice. If you want to move out early, management will work with you. Give a 60 day notice. And they will rent out your unit for you. However, if no one rents it out you have to pay a months rent fee. So to conclude. Overall a nice, quiet place to live. But management will take any opportunity to get money from its residents. They even sent us a letter a few weeks ago stating if we wanted to upgrade our appliances we would have to pay $50/ month.... cheap bastards.
