My experience at Indigo Apartments has been nothing short of disappointing. A few months after I moved in, I've encountered unexpected "vacant" fees for utilities that were never disclosed during leasing. Despite paying more than $250 per month for a one-bedroom's utilities, I was later blindsided with $150 in monthly "vacant charges" for nearly 10 months--no one ever proactively explained them or clarified my supposed obligation to open a separate electricity account. When I emailed Cherie Ayson, the general manager of the Indigo Apartments, about this, she simply said that the vacant charges cannot be removed. Lease & Transparency Issues: The lease does not explicitly require tenants to open their own PG&E account, but management insists it was my responsibility. If that's their policy, it should have been clearly stated in writing or made obvious at move-in, not buried under vague language. Management Response: Instead of showing empathy or accountability, the property staff (including the manager) responded dismissively. They have yet to provide clear proof of the fees, citing "standard practice" or a "requirement" that doesn't match the lease. Their communication has been condescending, and they only escalated matters when I pressed for answers. Customer Service: I've had to repeatedly chase them for straightforward information. If you're looking for supportive or responsive management, look elsewhere--you'll spend more energy battling arbitrary charges and hidden fees than actually enjoying your home. Overall, I would not recommend living here. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and disregard for tenant rights has left a terrible impression. I'm now exploring legal options because that seems to be the only way to address their unjustified charges. Save yourself the stress and frustration--avoid Indigo Apartments if you value honest business practices and a management team that puts residents first.
