I moved to this complex last month, and in a lot of ways, it's been great: - Our unit is lovely and has tons of storage - Maintenance requests have been handled promptly and professionally - The grounds of the complex are gorgeous - I have an outside parking spot and have had no problems with theft so far - The gym is a great size and there is a climbing wall Of course, any apartment complex will have its downsides: - For whatever reason, the Verizon cell coverage in our particular unit is terrible - We can hear what seems like every step (or stomp?) our upstairs neighbors take - The leasing office personnel can be hard to get in touch with The biggest issue I have with the complex, though, is that less than a month after moving in, they let us know that they would be closing the main pool and hot tub area for at least three months to make plaster and tile replacements. The main pool area is the heart of the property and a big reason why I decided to move here. It's a gorgeous spot, a key amenity, and now it won't be available for at least a quarter of my lease. Is there a second pool and hot tub? Yes--but it's smaller, not as nice, not centrally located, and will be twice as crowded now that the entire complex is using it. I am incredibly disappointed that I am paying for an amenity like this that will be unavailable for so long. Of course, I understand that pools require maintenance and that that can create downtime, but I had no idea that they would ever close the main pool area for months at a time (and was certainly given no indication that this would be happening before I signed my lease). When I expressed this concern to management, I was simply told that they are "super excited about the enhancements to our beautiful community for our residents to enhance are resort style living and all-inclusive vibe." It's unclear to me how replacing some plaster and tile will accomplish that, or that it will be worth the pool area being inaccessible for at least three months. Additionally, fitness classes are touted as one of this complex's amenities. When I moved in in January, there was no fitness instructor, so no classes were happening. I heard a few weeks ago that a new instructor has been hired, but I have yet to see any classes on the schedule. Again, I understand that staff turnover happens, but it is frustrating to feel like I'm paying for an amenity that I have not been able to take full advantage of. If there had been any kind of acknowledgement that these are less-than-ideal scenarios--or an attempt to make up for them in any way, however small--maybe I would have felt placated. But there has been nothing like that. So although there are a number of reasons why I like living here, dealing with this so soon after moving in has left a bad taste in my mouth.
